Admission Procedures

  • Application Forms are processed – May to August
  • Applicants are invited to attend an interview where prior qualifications are checked and verified against result slips.
  • Reports from Comprehensive Schools are processed and learners with an adverse report are informed at interview, if accepted into College, that they will be placed on ‘probation’ for the first term.
  • Students on probation will by-pass Stages 1 to 3 of the Discipline Structure.  The Principal and Student Services Co-ordinator will meet with relevant parents/guardians at interview to inform them of this and issue a letter explaining this procedure, which must be signed by either parent/guardian or student, if over 18.

At interview learners will be advised of the following:

  • Applicants with relevant entry requirements met will be informed verbally of their successful entry into College.
  • Learners who do not meet relevant entry requirements will be given other options, either to go down a level of entry or choose other subjects, where they would be more suitable.
  • Any repeat learners will be placed on a waiting list as priority is always given to new school leavers.   (Consideration is given to resources available at the College).
  • All successful applicants will be given an induction slip with the induction dates.
  • Learning Agreement will also be issued, which must be signed by Student Services Co-ordinator and learner, (if 18 or over) otherwise parent/guardian’s signature will be needed.
  • Learning Agreements to be placed in students’ files.
  • Induction will commence after diagnostic tests and all interviews have taken place (usually by the end of 2nd week in September) where timetables will be issued, Student Services handbook will be given and read with the learners.   During this time familiarisation of College resources and facilities will be discussed.
